Flavor Profile
Sweet Karoline® Blackberries’ unique flavor profile isn’t just consistently sweet, they are reminiscent of wild blackberries with hints of citrus. Bringing a perfect blend of sweet, with a slight hint of tart to create the perfect blackberry.
Growing Facts
They are only grown in Mexico, across many different regions throughout the states of Jalisco and Sinaloa. They are a floricane variety that peaks in the spring window (April-May).
Interesting Facts
They have been proven to show 20% better shelf-life than other blackberry varieties and are more resistant to red-cell. This resistance gives them their consistent glossy, deep purple-black hue.
They are smaller in size when compared to some blackberry varieties making them perfectly bite-sized and packed with lots of flavor in each morsel.
Cooking Tips
Cook them? Never! We suggest eating them fresh every time but if you’d like to use them in a recipe they shine as decorations on any dessert, in a parfait or trifle, or in a Sweet Karoline® blackberry compote.
Remember to always wash your berries before eating or use.
How to Store
To best store your berries, take them immediately out of your grocery bag and place in the refrigerator, we suggest on a shelf and not in a door so they keep a consistent coolness.
Only wash right before eating or usage, prewashing before storage in the fridge can cause molding.
How to Freeze
Wash thoroughly and drain in package or colander. Lay the berries out flat on a clean cloth or paper towel. Very gently pat dry. Then place all your berries flat on a cookie sheet and place in freezer for 5-10 hours depending on how many berries you’re freezing and the strength of your freezer. Check on them every hour to test if frozen. Once frozen, place in freezer safe container/bag and enjoy!
